Pray For The Persecuted
Just this week, we received these prayer requests from one of our partner missionaries.
I have a couple of prayer requests. I have been working with groups from _________ for the last couple of years doing trainings. It has been some of the best groups I have worked with. They are getting out there sharing, seeing people come to Christ, and really working to get more stories in their language. I have two requests for them.
First, there has been major flooding in the area they live in this week — water up to rooftops. Many I know are farmers and have likely lost all of their crops and possibly their homes. Pray for them and the people of the affected area in general.
Secondly, the people group that has had the most response was summoned by the authorities earlier this week. They summoned all the believers from six villages (70 people total), including all the ones I have worked with. They were told they would be summoned again this coming Sunday. At that time, they were commanded to recant their faith and return to their traditions. The first person who became a Christian among this group came to Christ five years ago. So these are all new believers. Pray for faithfulness, wisdom, and perseverance.
Pray that God would be glorified in both of these circumstances. Specifically in the way the believers respond to the difficulty and their faithfulness and love throughout.
Please pray for all that are being persecuted for their faith around the world. Because the New Testament was written to persecuted believers, it is filled with examples of how to pray for our brothers and sisters under attack.
Here are 5 examples from Ephesians:
Please pray persecuted believers would know the hope God gives (Ephesians 1:18).
Pray the Holy Spirit would strengthen them (Ephesians 3:16).
Please pray persecuted believers would know how much God loves them (Ephesians 3:17).
Pray they would know how to share the gospel (Ephesians 6:19).
Please pray persecuted believers would fearlessly tell others about Jesus (Ephesians 6:20).
